Know the Gospel

            The precious Gospel of Jesus Christ is not something to treat as a commercial – an object of momentary entertainment.  It is not mere words or simple phrases.  It is not the creation of man nor within his power to change it.  It is not a self-help system.  The Gospel is the power of God for salvation (Romans 1:16).  It is the very center and focus of the entire universe.  It is the revelation of the mystery hidden for ages – it reveals the glory of God, in the person of Jesus Christ, exalted and reigning in His Church.  For all eternity the saints will worship the Lamb who sits upon the throne.  For while they were yet His enemies, that blood which is the source of life, was spilt to pay their price.  And this is the song they shall sing:

Worthy are You… for You were slain,
and by Your blood You ransomed people for God
from every tribe and language and people and nation…
Worthy is the Lamb who was slain, to receive power and wealth
and wisdom and might and honor and glory and blessing!

            The very second we finally enter eternity, how empty all of life’s trivial trappings will be.  There is no greater pursuit in these temporary, vaporous days than the pursuit of the very near presence of God.  Pursue the word of truth, the Gospel!  For in the Gospel, the Lord of glory is revealed to His people.
